Meet Dr. Smith

Robert H. Smith, O.D.

Dr. Smith is a Tar Heel, born and raised a farmer's son in the small town if Fairmont, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a bachelor's degree in Biology.

Following a 4-year Professional Therapeutic Optometric Program, Dr. Smith received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Smith's graduate externships were performed at the Memphis State University Eye Center and the Memphis Contact Lens Center. His training in these clinical settings emphasized advanced services in the areas of primary therapeutic eye care and specialty contact lens fittings.       

Following his graduation Dr. Smith started his optometric career as the primary staff doctor at Ocean Optics in Myrtle Beach. With Ocean Optics subsequent growth into 3 locations Dr. Smith was soon serving the entire Grand Strand from Surfside Beach to North Myrtle Beach until his departure.       

Dr. Smith opened Lowcountry Vision Care, the first comprehensive eyecare practice in the Pawleys Island/Litchfield Beach area. Since then, he has served thousands of locals, newcomers and visitors with the help of the world's greatest optometric staff.
